The attributes of a great mentor

Prastut is my mentor and he is the most influential person in my life.
Today being his birthday, it seemed like the perfect occasion for me to share some attributes of a great mentor.
A great mentor is a reliable and demanding believer with an ability to recognize talent. They push you to be the best version of yourself and constantly drive you towards growth.
Reliable
A great mentor provides you with assurance that you can fail without taking heroic risks.
They act like a safety net for you. You know that they'll come in to bail you out if push comes to shove.
The caveat here is that they don't baby-sit you.
The goal is to teach you to stand up on your own feet. They simply act as support when needed, so that the fall doesn't kill you.
Gradually, they remove that support, enabling you to grow.
Demanding
Like a great coach, a great mentor is highly demanding when it comes to attitude.
Great mentors understand that outcomes are a lagging measure of actions and that actions are determined by the attitude of the individual.
By demanding the highest standards of performance, great mentors ensure the maximization of your rate of growth.
Believer with an ability to recognize talent
A great mentor requires an equally great apprentice to scale their specific knowledge.
They see greatness in under-priced assets, where the rest of the world fails.
They possess the ability to recognize talent and are willing to put their belief in you, even when you fail to believe in yourself.
Conclusion
To summarize, a great mentor is someone who pushes you beyond your boundaries and opens horizons of growth which you didn't even know existed.
I would like to thank Prastut for being that mentor and pushing me to achieve the highest standards of performance, for acting as a safety net for me and most of all, for recognizing the genius within me.
